  Zebra Bikes
Flathead This was the first bike I ever painted with zebra-stripes, an old HD 74 UL Flatty...prompted by the acquisition of a pith helmet, I decided to go with the "jungle theme". It was brush-painted and had little remarks written by the dents in the oil & gas tanks: "Dents are honest"... "Bondo tells lies" (hey, the dents are still THERE, underneath, right? So, WHY BOTHER smearing filler over 'em???) This was about 1985. Seems EVERYBODY is doing the "zebra thing" in the COOL Biker magazines now, and I am hereby officially announcing that I was the one who started* the trend!!!! :)

* editors note: I don't think you did. Watch the 1970 movie "CC & Company" in which Joe Namath not only gets to shag Ann Margret but also rides a way cool zebra striped chopper & matching dirt bike.
